Hey there Francis!
just wanted to let you know how awesome you are. I mean you probably already know that i love you and you are an amazing coach, but i wanted you to have it in writing (it’s more official this way). It was a great experience having you as a coach (and my first coach at that). i learned everything i know today about footwork from you which is quite an accomplishment. It was a great experience playing for you and i hope that everyone really interested in becoming the best player they can be learns it from you. You can do wonders with someone who has bad habits or who doesn’t know how to take an approach or who doesn’t swing there arms or who doesn’t set with their right foot forward and ect. I have never once had bad footwork since i was on your team those many years ago.
For anyone who is reading this trying to figure out if training with Francis would be a smart decision… take it from me and the rest of the people who have felt strongly enough to write up a testimonial…. it is worth every second. No matter what you are interested in, no matter what you need to work on, Francis will help “fix” you so to say. Francis will never in a million years be satisfied with second best. He always strives to make everyone the best player out there. I even remember at tournaments when he would go up to someone from a different team and be like ” you are using the wrong footwork make sure you do it like this” and then he would go through the process of teaching them how to do it right. He, like I said before, is willing to teach everyone, as long as they are willing to be taught.

Last Friday Nov 6th I was second referee for a match between Wootton HS and Sherwood. It was a great game seeing 2 of the best schools fighting for a play off spot for State Championship. I was very much amazed by the power of both teams. Jennifer Chen the setter from Wootton was just amazing to see her athletic skill. Robin, the outside hitter of Sherwood really hit the ball hard and fast.

Well, it always comes down to who has the best defense and Wootton just made it through the night with a 25-20, 25-21, 23-25 and 25-19 victory over Sherwood. I hope I got score right.

Its always nice to know that you would like to sharpen your skills in volleyball. I would recommend that you join a league or club to do this. What I do is mostly work with kids and some adults that needs to start with basic techniques in passing serving, setting and hitting. It sounds like you have been playing for some time now. I would like to suggest also is to go to the CHRVA.ORG website. I know that they would post some volleyball leagues in the local area of Montgomery, Howard, Virginia and in the DC area. I know that the facility in Rockville called Champions Field house has some adult volleyball in the winter.

Just watched Whitman faces Magruder and what was interesting to watch is the height and talent Whitman has over Magruder. Unfortunately for Whitman they lost to Magruder’s outside hitting and great defense by Molly , Lisa and Michelle.

I did notice the nice offense by Vera , Tamara and Emily. What I think is that the Whitman girls has so much talent that somehow the right people are used with regards to there respective skills. Vera is tall- each time she hits the ball she makes a point – She should be the outside hitter! Emily too is a strong outside! Tamara is a lefty strong outside hitter – another great talent to use.

Just a side comment on what I see.

When BCC played Churchill, it was fun to watch unfortunately for BCC there defense fell short on consistent hits by the offense of the Churchill Bulldogs. What I remember was the simple serve-receive that BCC was struggling on and the transition from defense to offense. BCC needs someone to put the ball down. They have a strong middle Lennear – and setters needs to focus on giving more of the ball to hits.

Defense wins championship – this is what so many teams needs to work on.

Gaithersburg Trojans and Walther Johnson Wildcats volleyball was a great game to watch last night. I just notice the hard hitting from Gaithersburg lefty Brigit Kelush and Middle hitter Buntry, both had a great offense against WJ. Although the home team WJ took the 3rd game of the match, the Trojans finished strong in the fourth match with a score of 25-13. What a match!. So now WJ’s season record is 9-1 and Gaithersburg 14-0

I am happy to see that Stone Ridge varsity team was good in keeping up there offense against Holton Arms. It was nice to see both team playing out there best in volleyball.

Earlier in the match Holton JV team kept a good lead, 25 – 21 and 21 – 25 and final third game 15-12.

Last night- it was Northwest against Damascus High school. What I notice was Northwest struggle in keeping up with Damascus hard hitting offense. Yes, there were some good offense on the Northwest Jaguar team but Damascus was very consistent in keeping up the pressure. Northwest offense was basically with a few good hitters Jessica Warner, Selia Linowes, Amanda and Rachel Rosen and Rebecca Seiler.

It was interesting to see these girls play a well fought match. I just hope they keep up their spirits.
