Goals of Volleyball Technique Training

There is no doubt that a player’s hitting, passing, setting and serving technique have a great influence on his or her success. Having good fundamentals of volleyball technique is one of the key components enabling a player to reach his or her potential. When a player masters the fundamentals of technique, she or he can consistently produce the most efficient, effective, and successful hitting and passing while minimizing the risk of injury. These fundamentals transcend different styles and are relevant and applicable to virtually all ages and levels of play.

This camp is specifically designed for any one who would like to undergo basic and advance technical training skills in volleyball. There will be a players evaluation on the first day of the camp and each camper will be group according to experience,  knowledge of the game and skill level.  It will help  left-side hitters with some tips for attacking on both sides of the court. Camp Counselors will focus on 3 different kinds of approaches, a discussion on timing, importance of arm swing and what to do when it comes to making hit selection. There will be major emphasis on defensive transitions, offensive footwork movements, passing of serve receive and coverage as well as passing and setting dig balls. Well trained counselors will cover the following skills in:

Winter Volleyball training –

This is boys and girls who cannot commit to club volleyball or other sports in there elementary, middle and high school program. It is for students  who have chosen a position in volleyball or want to increase and maintain their level of experience and expertise. It is for boys and girls who wants to get a head start in there coed volleyball season. Most athletes will experience different types of drills and get into the actual game-like situation. This session is designed for both learning and fun in a very safe and controlled environment. Students will learn basic and advance skills in passing, setting, serving and hitting.

Basic Training -

  • 3  step approach (footwork)
  • Proper arm swing and back swings action
  • Emphasis is on Defense.Generalize passing skills with emphasis on good platform and base. Lots of repetition and court movement.
  • Learning to serve underhand and overhand
  • Setting skills with hand eye coordination, quickness and agility
  • Video analysis of arm swing and proper approach

General Skills training -

  • 2, 3 and 4 step approach (footwork) with proper arm swing action
  • Emphasis is on Game-like situations and court movement. Generalize passing skills with emphasis on good platform and base. Lots of repetition and court movement
  • Transition from offense to defensive and court movement.
  • Cross court and line hitting
  • Understanding rotation and substitution
  • Rules, do’s and don’ts of the game
  • Video analysis of arm swing and proper approach

Advanced skills training -

  • This is for experienced players that has 1 or more years of playing volleyball as a JV, Varsity or club player. Athletes that wants to train on:
  • Hit the overpass – stationary and moving
  • 2, 3, 4 step approach (footwork) with proper arm swing action
  • Generalize passing skills with emphasis on good platform and base. Lots of repetition and court movement, rolls, sprawls and dive techniques
  • Blocking footwork for middle and outside
  • Cross court, rolls shots,  and line hitting
  • High intensity precision passing from a hard hit ball. All game like drills to work with consistency in defense and offense.

Setters training camp -

  • Setter footwork with hands on training and movement
  • Leadership skills and qualities of a setter
  • quickness, agility drills, repetition, repetition of outside set
  • Hit variety of sets – high ball, quick sets, shoot set, 33, 31, left side X
  • Proper  over hand passing form – repetitions
  • Proper defensive positioning – reading the opposition

Hitting and Blocking skill training -

  • Blocking – hand position, penetration, positioning and timing
  • Blocking – reading opposing attacker, set block vs. play down ball
  • Commit block with middle hitter on quick’s, set block for slide/step around
  • Hit against blockers – tipping, half-speed and wipe-off shots
  • Back row hitting from position 5 and 6
  • Hit bad sets – learn new shots from difficult positions
  • Swing hitting of serve receive
  • Transition situations: dig tip – attack, dig front row – attack, block – attack, dig back row – attack
  • Play defense in position 4, 5 and 6
  • Video analysis of arm swing and proper approach with classroom feedback

Team Camp -

  • Communication skills on the court
  • Understanding weakness and strength of each player
  • Coverage on defense and quick transition to offense
  • Team bonding ideas and suggestions
  • The importance of chemistry, position and responsibility of each player
  • Important role of the setter, outside hitters, libero and defensive specialist
  • Team discussion and video analysis of each game will be discuss

Fall Adult Volleyball Training -

Ladies and gentlemen, its never to late to learn new things in life.  Our fall adult volleyball training is for  players 18 and up who will learn the basic fundamentals and current techniques of volleyball, as well as more advanced strategies to become  successful, confident, and stronger. A great way to exercise and have fun, players will have a hands-on approach to developing there techniques in passing, serving hitting and setting. Lots of jumping, running and passing drills.  Players will have to experience some  endurance training and will get a first hand experience on how to hit volleyballs correctly using the proper approach technique. We will have private session on video analysis of your approach to passing and hitting on a case to case basis time permitting.

I will not focus much on conditioning exercises but more on techniques related to passing, serving, setting and hitting. This program will help adults improve there sense of reaction skills and quickness.  This is  mostly for beginners and intermediate level players. Game-like free ball drills will be the common drills for most of the period during this session.

I’m looking forward to the next 2 weeks I’m sure im ganna learn a lot more in just 4 days i think not only mentally i improved but physically to. I’ll be working on jumping allot more.
